What is Carry?

The Simple Definition

Carry is how far your shot travels in the air before it lands. It’s measured as a straight line from where the ball was hit to where it lands at the same height. In other words, it’s the true flight of the ball.

This matters more than most people realise. Whether you’re trying to fly a bunker, land soft on an uphill green, or dial in your wedges, knowing your carry distance helps you hit the right shot more often.

Why Most Golfers Get It Wrong

Amateur players often swing as fast as some LPGA Tour players. But they don’t get the same distance. Why? Because the pros are experts at fine-tuning ball speed, launch angle, and spin. That’s what maximises carry and gives them consistent, predictable results.

How You Can Use This at Lights Out Golf

In our studio, carry isn’t a mystery. Trackman gives you instant, precise data on every swing. You’ll see how far the ball actually flies and what affects it most.

So instead of wondering why your 7-iron came up short, you’ll know. And you’ll know how to fix it.

It’s a small shift in thinking that leads to smarter decisions on the course. And that’s the kind of progress we’re here for.

When most golfers think about distance, they’re thinking total yardage. But if you want real control and lower scores, carry distance is where the edge lives.

Better golf isn’t luck. It’s repetition.
